Top 10 must have tips and tricks for Banished players. Find out more information about Banished at the Gamepedia Banished wiki:
The Pixel Pirate’s Twitter:
Banished is a city-building strategy game in which the player controls a group of exiled travelers who decide to restart their lives in a new land. They have only the clothes on their backs and a cart filled with supplies from their homeland.
The objective of the game is to keep the population alive and grow it into a successful culture. Options for feeding the people include hunting and gathering, agriculture, trade, and fishing. However, sustainable practices must be considered to survive in the long term.

Strait to the point, I like it.

Bad tips. Fishing best food source. Easily
2009:my people start to die
2019:my people is happy
thank you @Curse Gamepedia
DO NOT build a foresters lodge with a herbalist! Herbalist gather from old tree and foresters lodge will chop down these old tree the herbalist needs.
I can tell you right now that hunting post doesn't need a lot of privacy. I have one snuggled in with a lot of buildings and it's doing just fine.
thanks for the tips. really helped.
I actually disagree with building blacksmith first. For me, it's better to build tailor to keep my citizens warm. With no tool they're work is less productive but they still work but when ther are freezing they just doesn't do anything
I seem to get to 150 then there is a great die off
In the game i always have a f*cking death wave by starving but i build a lot farm and seed whatever is that
good tips for begiiinners. entry level players are gonna have a harsh time 🙂 when thjis is mastered the game is super easy!
o_0?
Why would you encourage wasting resources on a blacksmith so early? Not a good way to get started at all!
I find it easier starting on medium vs easy. medium has no houses built. I place production buildings around my supply building/stockpile and then build the houses a little ways away. I then build multiple supply nodes like this and place a market in the middle with the houses surrounding. seems to work so far
why should i buy forester before 1st winter ? where is the food?
This video sucked
why does this guy talk like such a tool?
let me tell you one thing that killed on of my thriving towns of 100+ people so anyone reading doesn't make this mistake. build schools early on. most people dont want to sacrifice the extra labor but BELIEVE me it is worth it, educated laborers are twice as productive which means an annual food income of 4k would become 8k with educated workers. as for what killed my town? well I ran out of stone on the map and, being unlucky with traders, I desperately needed stone to expand. opened up a quary, and seeing as I didn't use any schools in that town (I was new to the game) the un-educated workers all got crushed by falling rocks in just a few seasons!!! didn't produce enough stone to expand. population stagnated and after my food producers died of old age with nobody to replace them my village faced mass starvation and that was the end of that. so my major tip: BUILD SCHOOLS EARLY. you'll double your production rate and, when the need for stone, iron and coal rises, you're much less likely to lose your educated workers to falling rocks
This video should be called: "If you are not clinically dead, then you should be able to manage these 10 obvious things."
that voice is so annoying. ruined the video for me
Tip #11, never remove a storage barn. As in my case of losing 80 citizens, leaving food in baskets in the field, and all citizens coming down with a case of overburdened apathy
In CC salt your leather is better than sheep free don't need trade for salt mine
a blacksmith before first winter? why? you have enough tools to last at least 3 winters to start
a blacksmith before first winter? why? you have enough tools to last at least 3 winters to start
1 hunter per hunting lodge. You can only get 1 deer per lodge every 2 months, so having 3 hunters, 2 didnt get you anything. 3 lodges and 3 hunters, 1 each lodge you get 3 deer every 2 months instead of the 1 deer.
well if you can get to a point where you build a town hall, large populations are easy to manage. however I have discovered that if you demo building on an infected feild you can replant with an orchard and get trees going in the same season, that way your population boom is not as screwed.
how do I improve my population?
Personal tip: FILL THE MAP WITH TRADING POSTS! literally, With a lot of trading posts and woodcutters you don't need farms are gatherers huts. You can auto purchase food and wood (still I recommend many foresters (just in case).
That is how you reach 1,000 + population… late game don't fear rebuilding your town in order to start relying on trading posts.
watch a video of someone having 2k+ population and you'll see how they set up their woodcutters.
Well crap… But thanks you just fixed my problem I built over 10 houses and my population is out of control.
Succinct. I like. Thanks.
lol so tools are more important than food xD
did you even play this game?
fewd
what accent is that?
I would also suggest getting a market place relatively soon. This prevents citizens from stockpiling everything in there homes.
sry but you should rather say 5 good Tips then 10 and 5 of them absolutly nonsence… Build a house? 😀 I was just staring and wondering if you are not kidding
bad tips
